An adventurer
« on: September 23, 2011, 08:25:53 PM »
is a person who bases his lifestyle or their fortunes on adventurous acts.

1st day of Autumn and I was reminiscing of the great trips to the NC & GA mountains.  I found this site which would provide a great long weekend adventure.
http://www.georgiaoverland.com/

That led me to this site which made realize a long weekend is not an adventure
http://www.atltothearctic.com/

Which led me to this site which made me pledge to do a great adventure before I stop rotating around the sun.

Toyota? Then why is it built in a Hino factory?

Wow! I love that video. And it says based on a true story.

This post hits a nerve with me!

-----

This site has quite a few long distance and long timeline "Adventurers" threads.

I completely understand what you are saying.

I have done two kind of "Great Adventures"!

One in an old beat up car, driving from Florida to see the Pacific Ocean. Not having any pre-planned route or destination or timetable. (Ended up in Hemet California.)

The second one was kind of the same similar but on a 750 Honda. (Ended up in Bend Oregon.)

I must say that the two "adventures" were so far apart in every emotion and living experiences that I can't really compare them.

Riding the 750 motorcycle put me in touch with the elements, the environment and even more important, many more personal people interactions all along the way.

The motorcycle "Adventure" was much more life changing, and memorable, at least for me. Many years ago, I hand wrote a 8.5 x11 sized journal of about 27 pages about it, so I would not forget some of it. My Summer of 1979! lol

------

But I must say that, I believe one does not need to do these things to feel like that in their own life that they have NOT have, or been adventures or had an unfulfilled life!

During my "adventures" I talked to many people who said to me, "man, that is what I want to do." But for some reason they can't, because of family commitments and or other reasons. Maybe they would never do it anyway, but I believe it does not matter.

Some of those became friends and we had small "adventures" like we did with the friends we made in the FJC community. I believe those small "adventures" are equally important. Daily life "Adventures"!

And lets not forget, the real important "adventure" of raising children (some people have two, a boy and a girl) and with that the MANY YEARS long adventure of guiding, loving, helping and molding them into adults. Those "adventures" are only more easily disregarded because of the years they involved. Or the "adventure" to love and care for friends and family and be involved and care and love them everyday. Or even small everyday kind and thoughtful things strangers do for each other. But In My Humble Opinion, those are the Greatest Adventures.

Okay sorry for the soapbox, and preaching. Back to my regularly scheduled Reprobate status!  lol  :evilvsangel:

Time
Pink Floyd (Mason, Waters, Wright, Gilmour) 7:06

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

That is quite the adventurous life. I cannot imagine slogging that bike through the mud like he does.
