This is a brand new motorcycle. It is kind of a mix between the other two motorcycles that I have. Now Maria says, do I really need ALL those motorcycles!!!!
I tell her of course I do! (But I am only kidding her, I am going to sell the other two, anyone interested?)
This 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 (ST) is a dream bike for me. It fits me perfectly. It seems to know where I want to go and almost feels like an extension of me. So it is the only one I will be riding almost ALL the time. And the reason for selling the others.
Sure the FJR 1300 is quicker acceleration (I now having it bring the front tire up in first and second without trying, (Although I have not tested the ST yet because the ST bike is not broken in yet.) and maybe the FJR can take corners a little deeper and faster, but I have already wheelie the ST. And it takes the corners fast enough! It might do just as well, or better. The center of gravity is a lot lower and has all sorts of traction control settings I can tweak while riding it.
Sure the XR650L is better in the dirt, but I have seen videos of the ST doing some amazing things in the dirt! And I am done doing the radical dirk biking anyways. But this is the first year they brought it to the USA. They have been selling versions of it in Australia, Africa and Europe for a few years. So most of the kinks should be worked out.
I really, really liked both the FJR and XR650L but there was something not quite clicking perfect with my motorcycle spirit. This ST seems to blend right in with me on that!
It has a ton of options, so I can tweak it the way I want, and when out exploring, I can hit dirt roads, gravel roads and even some nasty trails. I already did a little bit of Croom with it.
Plus it is kind of like the FJ Cruiser, I has the road worthiness to travel long distances very comfortably and with great speed and yet once I hit some nasty roads or trails, I can travel those pretty well also. Then head back home on the roads back at speed and take the back roads for some curves!
Oh Man, Oh Man,,,,,, Heavenll I even went out yesterday in the very cold to ride it!!! Whooooeeee!!!
